Eid al-Adha commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God.

Traditions:

Performing ritual animal sacrifice (Qurbani) and distributing meat in three parts
Attending special Eid prayers in congregation at mosques or open grounds
Wearing new clothes and visiting family and friends to exchange greetings

One-third of the sacrificed meat goes to the poor, one-third to relatives, and one-third is kept by the family.
