The EST to IST meeting nightmare

Don't get me started on the EST to IST meeting gap. It's a nightmare.

You've got a client in New York and a dev team in Bangalore. Someone is going to suffer. That's just the math. It's either a 7 AM call for the US team where someone is definitely taking the meeting from their bed, or it's an 8:30 PM call for the India team right when dinner is getting cold.

Let me back up. The time difference is 10.5 hours. Ten and a half. That half hour makes calculating things in your head just annoying enough that you can't trust your own brain.

So you use a converter. You have to. But the problem is people don't respect the converter. The client sends an invite for 3 PM EST. They think, hey, it's mid-afternoon, completely normal time for a sync.

They don't realize it's 1:30 AM in India. They just don't look.

I once spent 44 minutes on a Friday night staring at a Zoom waiting room because someone in Chicago forgot that their Friday afternoon was my Saturday morning. I lost my weekend to a sync about button colors.

This is why you have to set hard boundaries. If you don't enforce an overlap window you'll burn out your Indian team in three months flat. They'll just vanish.
